Gallery has been fortunate in the media coverage it has garnered; including in
the B. Smith with Style segment on Memphis, Northwest Airlines inflight magazine
and Essence Magazine Memphis coverage which included memory: 2Griots as an exhibition
to see while in Memphis. The New York Times in its review of the 2002 National
Black Fine Art Show in New York City provided specific mention of Joysmith Gallery’s
exhibition of Carrie Mae Weems, and the Art Business News cover story on the 2003
National Black Fine Art Show in their January edition. Local media has offered
generous feature editorial on both Joysmith Gallery and Brenda Joysmith.
